Ballarat Bird World opened in 1992 to the public.
The 14 acre site was purchased in 1974 by Paul and Joan Sperber.
With the help of their two sons, Paul and Edward, aged 14 and 12 at the time, and Joan's brother Bob, a plan was put in place to build a bird sancturay that they could open to the public to showcase a variety of Australian birds.
Having bred and hand raised birds for the past twenty years, Paul and Joan had a substantial collection of birds. What started out as a hobby turned into a lifetime passion for the family.
It is with pleasure that the Park is now open to visitors to enjoy the birds as much as we do.
